Cards in CS 2 are played according to the MR 12 system: 12 rounds per half, the winner is the one who wins thirteen. In case of a tie, overtime is played – 6 rounds, 3 per half. On the pro scene, overtime series will be played until one team wins 4 rounds. Sometimes it gets really long.

The pro scene only moved to CS 2 in October 2023, but we already have the first record holders for the longest matches and maps in CS 2 history.
Longest matches in CS 2

Below is the list of the longest maps in CS 2.

  1. Aurora Gaming vs PARIVISION at ESL Challenger League Season 46, 60 rounds. PARIVISION won Ancient with a score of 31:29.
  2. Gucci Academy vs Permitta at A1 Gaming League Season 7, 54 rounds. Gucci Academy won Ancient by a score of 28:26.
  3. FaZe Clan vs Ninjas in Pyjamas at CS Asia Championships 2023, 53 rounds. FaZe won Ancient with a score of 28:25.

The three longest maps in CS 2 history were played on Ancient. The longest map on LAN was bo1-match at CS Asia Championships 2023. It was only 7 rounds short of the all-time record. It seems that in the near future the top of the longest matches will be seriously updated.

How did the players react to the long matches?

They mostly spoke ironically about the easy rink, noted the lack of training and fatigue.

We won 31-29. Easy, actually. It was easy, not very many rounds. <…> From this mid-group we can make the playoffs. We might have a meeting with FORZE and SAW. We will try to keep progressing on the bootcamp.

Unbelievable Toughness. Lost especially without the upset. Two days of prakas and officinalka with deko. The future looks promising.
