Players from the CS2 team Perseverance have been temporarily banned from all ESL FACEIT Group championships for attempting to deceive the administration of ESL Challenger League Season 48. The organizers announced this on their official website.
According to the report, Perseverance wanted to reschedule several matches and misled the organizers to justify their request. As reported by Dust2.us, a new team member, Nelvin “nooz” Gonzalez, was unable to play on the day the team had two scheduled matches.
The exact reason is unknown; however, it was likely not valid, as the team had to devise a scheme to convince the organizers to postpone the matches. Another team member, Corey “shutout” Freimark, created two fake screenshots: one showing an approaching storm on Apple Weather for his city, and another showing an SMS from a local power company warning of a high likelihood of power outages due to the weather.
Upon checking Apple Weather, it was found that there was no severe weather forecast. Additionally, the SMS screenshot contained a number that was later discovered to belong to another Perseverance member, Gabriel “Gabe” Shah.
Following the investigation, the league administration decided to disqualify the roster from ESL Challenger League Season 48. Moreover, all players received a two-month ban from all ESL FACEIT Group tournaments. Shortly after the verdict was announced, the organization Perseverance stated that it had terminated the players’ contracts and would be looking for a new roster.
Former Perseverance Roster:
- John “mds” Marini
- Gabriel “Gabe” Shah
- Colin “CoJoMo” Moren
- Corey “shutout” Freimark
- Nelvin “nooz” Gonzalez
